Who Gives this Woman?
Well, for better or for worse, the deed is done. My daughter is a married woman.
There are lots of stories to tell. Like the final disposition of my outfit, the presence of a certain purple striped monkey, how the bride ended up on her duff in the middle of the reception hall right before the ceremony, how the ring bearer and the flower girl wouldn't let go of each other's hands. These things always have that. It's what makes them worth all the dress up and bother.
The bridesmaids/grooms came in to Dearly Beloved from Kingdom Hearts 358/2, the bride marched in to the first 40 seconds of March Caprisce for Piano and Orchestra and everyone left to the rest of it.
At times I didn't know whether to scratch my watch or wind my backside. There seemed like it was problem after problem. I was going insane the whole day. But once they put the names on the paper I figured the rest was gravy. And thanks to the grace of a great many people who stepped in to help, when zero hour came it all somehow worked out. They have walked the walk and said the words. Here's a couple shots:
Getting things set up:
Who gives this woman? Her mother and her brothers and sister do....
I give you Mr. & Mrs. Punk who shows up at my house at oh-dark-hundred. ;)
The Cake
In the end, nothing went as planned but it all went well. It's been a month now. Some of the shine has worn off, and we've begun to figure out how we're going to do this life-thing now. I still have to think and remember who it is when I see her name spelled out, like in her Facebook profile. They're getting their house in order and looking forward.
In the end, it's all about them building the best life they can together. And I pray they live as long as they love, and love as long as they live.
So many words, so little time....
